He was predeceased by: his parents, Sinclair Capps and Vera Lee Lawhorn Capps; his wife Shirley Capps; and his stepfather David Ennis. He is survived by: his daughters, April Harbaugh of Summerville, SC, Ashley Blackwell (Daniel) of Jacksonville, NC, Melissa Woodard (Robin) of Selma, NC and Melinda Garcia (Marco) of Selma, NC; his siblings, James Capps (Cathy), Jerry Capps (Angie), Wayne Ennis (Ann), Frank Ennis (Claire) and Trevis Maleski (Mike); his grandchildren, Alexander "AJ" Jacob Thompson, Jackson Harbaugh, Landon Bordonaro, Elisa, Ashlyn, Emma and Dylan Blackwell; his great grandchild Liam Thompson; and his nephew Russell Webster (Johnna Webster). He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Parrish Funeral Home, Inc. (1351 S Pollock St, Selma, NC 27576). A graveside service was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 at 11:15 AM at the Price Cemetery (1945 Pine Level Selma Rd, Selma, NC 27576).
