He is survived by: his mother Carol M. Smith (Jackson) of Leesburg; his brother Travis Smith of Leesburg; his aunt Gertrude Evans; and his friend Lin Thornton. He is also survived by uncle/aunt, along with many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Eric Jackson Scholarship Fund at Johnston Community College created to honor his memory and further his legacy of education and life-long learning.
