She was predeceased by: her daughter Michelle Lynn Mundy; her grandson Scotty Glenn Locklear; her parents, Joseph Jefferson Coats and Ruth Elaine Coats; and her sister Nancy Jo Coats (Ray).

She is survived by: her husband Richard Lane Hayes; her daughters, Tammy JoAnn Mundy of Selma, Heather Elaine Mundy of Dunn and Angela Ann Chambers of Wake Forest; and her siblings, Tim Coats (Jobe), Michael Coats (Lynn) of Clayton and Sharon Fields (Jerry) of Benson. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
