He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow Wilson Atkins and Bessie Inez Combs Atkins; his siblings, Woodrow Atkins, Jr., Leatha Goodson, Carol Maness, Richard Atkins and Myrtle Atkins; and his great grandchildren, Whyatt Ellis and Mason Sanders.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Lucille Atkins; his children, Mary Ann McDuffie (Travis), Betty Jo Atkins and Robert Steve Atkins Jr. (Penny); and his brothers, Harold Dean Atkins (Lisa) and Harry Lee Atkins (Wanda). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
