He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Sparks and Victory Sizemore Sparks; his children, Mickey Jo Jennings and Michael Shane Sparks; his granddaughter Angie Barnes; and his siblings, Nancy Stuart, Patsy, Dexter and Kelley Sparks.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Strickland; his children, Sherry Lynn Thigpen (Donna Garrett), Billy Rollins and Jonathan B. McGee; and his sisters, Olivia Meadows and Gwen Pugh. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
