He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Needham Caviness; his son-in-law Ronald Carr; his parents, John Avery and Sadie Martha Asbill Caviness; and his siblings, Stella Kiser, Myrtle Love, Joe E. Caviness, Norman Caviness, Glenn Caviness and Jack Caviness.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Brady (Lavan) of Seagrove, Susan Denise Carr of Seagrove, Tony Caviness of Myrtle Beach, SC and Gary Caviness (Phyllis) of Seagrove; his siblings, Margie Kiser (J. C.) of Erect, Patty Welch of Robbins, Elizabeth Shepley (Edward) of Carthage and Grady Caviness (Edith) of Burlington; and his grandchildren, Angela Brady Daniels, Kim Wilson, Jason Caviness, Torie Caviness, Katherine Carr and Aaron Carr. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
