He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy Cagle; his son Donald Cagle Jr.; his parents, Charles Cagle and Ethel King Cagle; and his siblings, Frances McNeill, Helen Needham, Edna Garner, Edward, Wayne, Clarence and Talton Cagle.
He is survived by: his daughter Michelle Phillips (Eddie) of Asheboro; his stepdaughter Lisa Love Laughlin; his grandchildren, Julia N. Cagle and Dylan R. Cagle; his stepgranddaughter Ashley P. Joyner; and his sister-in-law Stella G. Cagle. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
