He was predeceased by: his wife Kathleen Maness Cox; his son Wayne Cox; his parents, Vertis Cox and Vertle Caviness Cox; his siblings, Berta Mae Spencer, Recil Cox and Laven Cox; and his stepchildren, Martha Hussey, Virginia Barker, David Hussey and Michael Hussey.
He is survived by: his son Eddie Cox (Debbie) of Arden, NC; his sisters, Emma Jean Marley of Asheboro, Mildred Hoover (Ed) of Franklinville and Charlene Maness of Bear Creek; his stepchildren, JoAnn Maness (Eugene) of Asheboro and Cecil Hussey (Teeny) of High Falls; his grandchildren, Ashley Garren (Jason) of Seagrove, Jeff Cox (Kacey) of Macon, GA, Brian Cox (Caroline) of Huntersville and Kevin Cox of Randleman; and his great grandchildren, Preston Clay, Harper Cox and Brent Cox.
