He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Henderson and Melva Henderson; his wife Mary "Jeanette" Henderson; and his grandson William H. Simmons III. He is survived by: his children, Glenda Gales (John) of Hampstead, Pam Lee (Earl) of Hampstead and Gerald "Dean" Henderson Jr. of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Gerald (Jessica), Ashley (Owen), Katie (Erica) and Alex; and his siblings, Hazel Jordan of Raleigh, Johnny Henderson of Wilmington and Earl Henderson of Wilmington. He is also survived by four great grandchildren.
