He was predeceased by: his parents, J. W. "Bill" Johnson and Ethel Savage Johnson of Scotland Neck; and his brother Carl Thomas Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Jenks Britt Johnson; his daughter Heather Johnson Brown (Howard Russell Brown); his grandchildren, Reagan Britt Johnson and Benjamin Russell Brown of Scotland Neck; his sister Marie Johnson Bearden of Beaufort; and his sister-in-law Sherry McGee Johnson of Garner. He is also survived by two nieces, one nephew, two grand-nieces, two grand-nephews, and two great-nieces.
