He was predeceased by: his parents, Minnie Thigpen and Frank Cephus; and his son Hekeem Abdul Karim. He is survived by: his wife Luvories Karim of Scotland Neck; his sons, Rahman Abdul Karim of Greenville and Jameel Abdul Karim of Winterville; and his stepson Ju'Quarius Joyner. He is also survived by four sisters, eight brothers, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
