She was predeceased by: her mother Mary Lee Ware; and her husband James Cotten. She is survived by: her son Derrick (Jenna) of Wake Forest, NC; her grandchildren, Triniti, Aiden, Adam and Logan of Raleigh; her brothers, Algie Ware Sr. (Fleta) of Hillsboro, NC and Norman Thomas (Mary) of Hamden, CT.; her close friends, Alta Raines of Greensboro, NC, Vermelle McCray of Charlotte, NC, Bobby Edwards of Pittsboro, NC and Lucille Thomas of Concord, NC; and her godchildren, Aubrey Byrd, Makayla Partridge and Kimberly Bland. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Knotts Funeral Home (719 Wall St, Sanford, NC 27330). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Prince Chapel Cme Church (4471 Christian Chapel Church Rd, New Hill, NC 27562). A burial will be held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at the same location.
