He was predeceased by: his parents, Laster Jones Thomas and Annie Lou McCormick; and his siblings, Eugene L. Thomas and Ruth T. Watts. He is survived by: his wife Irene Carter Thomas; his children, Michael Kelly Thomas (Jill) of Sanford and Kristi Lynn Thomas (Will Proffitt) of Wilmington; and his grandchildren, Jaxon Roberts of Wilmington, Michaela Proffitt of Wilmington and William Proffitt of Wilmington. He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
