He was predeceased by: his parents, Sanford Donas McDowell and Willa Jane Parks McDowell; his siblings, Robert, James McDowell and Tina Thomas; his grandson Joshua Everett; and his stepdaughter Mary Angela Cameron.
He is survived by: his wife Genelle McDowell; his children, Patricia McDowell (Troy) of Sanford, Sharon Hudson (James) of Sanford and John McDowell, Jr. (Darlene) of Sanford; and his stepsons, Mack Cameron (Rhonda) of Sanford and Anthony Cameron (Amy) of Fayetteville.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home (600 W Main St, Sanford, NC 27332). A memorial service was held on Tuesday, January 28th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the same location.
