He was predeceased by: his parents, Eunice Thomas Gillis and Lacy Dixon Gillis; and his siblings, Juanita McDuffie, LD Gillis and Richard Gillis.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Palmer Gillis; his sons, Jimmy Gillis and Kent Gillis (Karen); his grandchildren, Crystal (Drew), Brandon, Christopher and Courtney; his daughter Karen Gillis Bush; his grandchildren, Dylan, Connor, Peyton and Kennedi; his daughter Kelli Gillis Godwin; his grandchild Heaven; his sister Lois Gillis White of Jensen Beach, FL; and his great grandchildren, Aiden, Caryn and Charlotte. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12th 2024 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Salem Presbyterian Church (3554 Avents Ferry Rd, Sanford, NC 27330). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 12th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Salem Church.
