He is survived by: his wife Doris Atkins; his children, Jimmy Atkins Jr. and Umeka Covington; his grandchildren, Teneisha Brown, Rakeem Chesney, James Atkins IIl, Robert Pope Jr., Talitha Covington and Naomi Covington; his sister Mary Peaks; and his niece Phyllis Riddick. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
