She was predeceased by : her parents, James Hurley Ashworth and Kathleen Baker Ashworth; her husband Howard Hughes, Sr.; and her son Jerry Scott Hughes. She is survived by : her sons, Howard Hughes, Jr. (Sheila) of Sanford, NC and Darryl Lynn Hughes (Angela) of Sanford, NC; and her siblings, Sue Ashworth Haynes (Rodney) of Yukon Cornelius, NC, Ronald Eugene Ashworth (Beverly) of Chocowinity, NC and Wanda Ashworth Teal (Danny) of Sanford, NC. She is also survived by six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 28th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Grace Chapel Cemetery (2605 Jefferson Davis Hwy, Sanford, NC 27332).
