He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy Lee Doss Looney; and his sisters, Marilyn Maxberry and Mildred Ann Price. He is survived by: his children, Daniel Looney, Jennifer Utley and Catherine Looney; his stepchildren, Kimberly Duggins and Buddy Doss; his grandchildren, Sarah Durham, Amy Robertshaw, Matthew Sawyer and Travis Sawyer; his stepgrandchild Karlee Worrell; his great grandchildren, Issac, Ava, Jenna, Noah, Murray and Sophia; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Tucker, Oakley and Alley Brook.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the True Gospel Baptist Church (4720 NC-704, Sandy Ridge, NC 27025). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
