He was predeceased by: his father Raymond Hyatt; his grandsons, Garrett "Turkey" Forbes and Brantley "Doodle Bug" Forbes; his former wife Rachael Willis Hyatt; his wife Marlene Smith Hyatt; and his siblings, Delores Hyatt and Larry Hyatt.
He is survived by: his son Thomas "Little Gene" Hyatt of Salter Path; his stepchildren, Dawn Hoover of Arkansas, LaRose Guthrie of Mill Creek and Ashley Forbes of Salter Path; and his close friends, Penny Guthrie and Angela Salter. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
