He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Robert and Virginia Simpson Kerns. He is survived by: his wife Joan Elium Kerns; his sons, Jason Kerns of Salisbury and Travis Kerns of Katy, Texas; his grandchildren, Blake Beulin of Salisbury, Jenica and Andalyn Kerns of Katy, Texas; his sister Claudia Short of Conover; and his aunt Mildred Kerns Peeler of Salisbury.
