He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward Fitzgerald and Fannie Wilson Fitzgerald; his brother Sam Fitzgerald; and his son Roderick W. Fitzgerald, II. He is survived by: his wife Glenda Pendry Fitzgerald; his children, Alanna D. Fitzgerald-Brown (Derick) of Charlotte, Derrick Fitzgerald of Charlotte and Rhonda Fitzgerald of Charlotte; his stepsons, James Campbell (BJ), Tim Campbell of Kannapolis and Shane Campbell of Black Mountain; his siblings, John Edward Fitzgerald "Willy" (Carrie) of New Jersey and Lydia Valeria Forjoe (Ben) of Maryland; and his close friend George Acosta. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
