It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Robert Haynes Shirley Jr. of Salisbury, North Carolina, born in Chester, South Carolina, who passed away on October 13, 2023, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Haynes Shirley, Sr. and Hazel Boles Shirley; and his pet Harley. He is survived by: his wife Linda Rouse Shirley; his sons, Jeffrey Dean Shirley (Kristina) and Todd Allen Shirley (Ashli); his grandchildren, Tatum Elizabeth Shirley, Victoria Cameron Shirley, Tilly Nicole Shirley and Zane Alexander Shirley; his brother Edward Shirley of Clemmons; and his nephews, Mike Shirley (Kimberly) and Ronnie Shirley.

“Linda I am sorry for your loss. Haynes was a great man and I enjoyed knowing him as I grew up. When I learned to play piano and I would come over and play some songs I learned (Especially The Entertainer and Hill Street Blues) he was always fascinated and would watch and learn them too. He would play things that I would call out just from me humming them or giving him the tune. He was truly one of a kind. I will never forget our camping trips and hanging out with Jeff & Todd. He will be missed.”
