He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Alston and Margaret Ann Alston; and his wife Frances Alston. He is survived by: his children, John Blackwell, Jr., James Blackwell of Winston-Salem, Regina McCorkle of Greensboro and Jonnetta Blackwell of Salisbury; his brothers, Robert Alston (Beth) of Granite Quarry and Delvin Alston of Granite Quarry; and his grandmother Fannie Ellis of Salisbury. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
