He was predeceased by: his parents, John Raymond Coppley Sr. and Blanche Kopela Yarbourgh; and his former wife Rebecca Johnson Coppley. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Metters Coppley; his children, John Wesley Coppley (Meg) of Clemmons and Anne Coppley Prudente (John) of Greensboro; his sisters, Alice Long of Fl and Olive Stutts "Punkin" of Oak Island; his grandchildren, John Prudente (Natalie), Michael Prudente (Kelsey), Evan Prudente, John Coppley, Heather Coppley Parker (Matthew) and Rebecca Coppley; his great grandchildren, Maddy, Maren and Owen; his nieces and nephews, Libby Riddle, Melynda Beverly, Jeff Stutts and Kelly Stutts; his pet Heidi; and his caregiver John.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hinkle Hospice House, The Alzheimer's Association, or The Children's Home.
