It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gary Louis Smith of Salisbury, North Carolina, born in Durham, North Carolina, who passed away on April 8, 2023, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his mother Kathleen Thomas Smith; his brother Larry Smith; and his sister-in-law Margie Smith. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn "Kitsy" Keel Smith; his children, Jim Slye (Julie) of Goldsboro and Jennifer "Sissy" Anthony (Kenneth) of Salisbury; his brother Tommy Smith (Jackie) of Tarboro; his grandchildren, Amelia Anthony, Will Anthony, Natalie Slye, Jenna Slye and Nathanael Slye; his great grandchild Leilani Dillard; and his pet Sophie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
