He was predeceased by: his parents, Polly Lou Kluttz Briggs and William Thomas Briggs; and his siblings, Clarence Albert Briggs, Tommy Briggs, Alvin Briggs, Thetis Sloop, Mary Ellen Earnhardt and Celia Briggs Summit.
He is survived by: his wife Gwendolyn King Briggs of Salisbury, NC; his brother Gerald (Mary Lou) of Salisbury, NC; and his daughters, Gwyn Richardson (Kernersville), Deborah Wagner (Leonard) of Efland, NC and Tonya Anderson (Matthew) of Harrisburg, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Briggs Music Scholarship Fund.
