She was predeceased by: her parents, Lester Emmett Carter and Annie Pearl Collette Carter; and her husband Robert James Layburn, Sr.. She is survived by: her children, Marion Spence Carpenter (Teasha), Robert James Layburn, Jr. and Melanie Jacobs (Marc) of Salisbury, NC; and her sisters, Brenda Thompson of Concord, NC, Judy Mullis (Ira) of Concord, NC and Charlotte Baucom of Concord, NC. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
