She was predeceased by: her parents, Ivey D. Royal and Robetha Hollingsworth Royal; her husband James B. Spell; and her brother Turman D. "Pete" Royal. She is survived by: her children, Mike Spell (Janice) of Salemburg and Shari Hall (Irvin, Jr.) of Salemburg; her grandchildren, Kelly Spell and Madison Mooney (Austin); and her stepgrandchildren, Jacklyn Johnson (Shane), Michael Barnett, Cody Barnett and Hannah West (Jordan). She is also survived by five step great grandchildren.
