He is survived by: his wife Kim Byers Smith; his father Harold Smith (Nancy) of Dobbinsville; his children, Crystal Morgan (Gary) of Forest City, Kevin Smith of Idaho, Shasta Morgan (Monroe) of Boiling Springs, Bryan Morgan (Kayla) of Mooresboro and Steven Smith (Heather) of Avery County, NC; his siblings, Teresa Smith of Ruth, Ronnie Smith of Marion, Sherry Smith (Roger) of Ellenboro, Debbie Crowe (Dan) of Ohio and Barbie Rich of Mooresboro; and his stepfather Richard Lepage of Mooresboro. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren.
