She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Whiteside and Maude Whiteside; her husband Wayne Bivens; and her sister Jean Upton. She is survived by: her children, Susan Thomas (Marty) of Rutherfordton, Vickie Townzen (Larry) and Scott Bivens of Forest City; her siblings, Terrie Davenport (Jonnie), Sandra Bruke and Steve Putnam; and her grandchildren, Dustin Maxwell, Eric Thomas, Jordan Boone and Charity Campbell.
Four grandchildren, Dustin Maxwell, Eric Thomas, Jordan Boone, and Charity Campbell, and nine great-grandchildren.
