He was predeceased by: his father Rev. Glenn Gunter; and his sister Kimberly Ann Davis. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Walker Gunter; his children, Ashle Malone (Joey), Katie Gunter and Chandler Gunter; his stepchildren, Heather Crawford, Blaire Crawford and Chelsey Croom (Kyle); his mother Connie Gunter; and his brother Jeff Gunter. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Southern Baptist Church.
