He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Byrd and Ruby Silvers Byrd; and his siblings, Marie Proffitt and Lloyd Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Dobbins Byrd; his son Keith Byrd (Angie) of Rutherfordton; his stepdaughters, Tammy Nichols of Forest City and Tina Yelton (Jeff) of Forest City; his sister Sheila Deyton (J. C.) of Burnsville, NC; his siblings-in-law, Gene King of Rutherfordton and Barbara Byrd of Apex, NC; his nephews, Rodney Proffitt and Michael Byrd; his niece Jeannie Rizzo; and his stepgrandchildren, Blake, Megan, Aubree, Austin and Anna-Leigh. He is also survived by ten step great-grandchildren.
