With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Kay Brooks (Rutherfordton, North Carolina), who passed away on December 29, 2022 at the age of 72. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Carey Appling; her parents, Ray Ownbey and Mary Sue Dale Ownbey; and her brothers, William, Tommy, Donald and Dennis Ownbey.

She is survived by: her daughter Rhonda Hill (Brad); her granddaughter Brooklyn Hill; and her siblings, Jimmy Ownbey (Brenda) and Minnie Wallace.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 130 Pleasant Grove Road, Rutherfordton NC 28139.
