She was predeceased by: her parents, J. W. Baynard and Pauline Baynard; her husband Donald Bennett Mathis; her son Mike "Mousey" Mathis; and her brothers, Jimmy Baynard and Bill Baynard.
She is survived by: her children, Lisa Mathis Courtney (Scott) and Tim Mathis (Lenora) of Rutherfordton; her brother Don Baynard (Carolyn) of Ruth; and her grandchildren, Caleb Courtney (Kelly) of Wilmington, NC, Casey Courtney of Charleston, SC, Colton Courtney of Boone, NC, Logan Mathis of Boone, NC and Xander Mathis of Rutherfordton, NC..
