He was predeceased by: his parents, W. R. Buchanan and Georgia Jordan Buchanan; his wife Patsy Hensley Buchanan; and his stepdaughter Cindy Trotter. He is survived by: his son Randy Buchanan of South Carolina; his brothers, John Buchanan (Peggy) of Shelby, NC, Don Buchanan (Annette) of Rutherfordton and Mike Buchanan (Shirley) of Rutherfordton; his stepchildren, Sharon Hardin of Ellenboro and Jodie Hardin (Craig) of Ellenboro; and his granddaughter Amy Nelon (Rob) of Rutherfordton. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
