It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Billy Thompson of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, who passed away on August 24, 2024, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, W. V. Thompson and Elizabeth Ridings Blaylock Thompson; his wife Christine "Chris" Thompson; his siblings, Lillian Hines, Sulena Dickert, Zula Greene, Duran Thompson of Hayward Thompson, R. A, Lanier Thompson, Charles Thompson and Donald Thompson; his granddaughter-in-law Monica Gossett; and his great great grandchild Mills Williams.
He is survived by: his children, Anne Thompson Gossett (Jerry) and Wayne Thompson of Rutherfordton; his siblings, Max D. Foy Thompson of Piedmont, SC and Betty Cobb of Rutherfordton; his grandchildren, Jeremy Gossett, Tina Gossett Williams (Michael), Travis Thompson (Paula), Troyia Thompson (Joni), Daniel Thompson and Christopher Thompson; his great grandchildren, Brittany Scott (Zack), Blake Williams (Sara), Makayla Spivey (Ethan), Kendall Gossett, Nate Thompson, Nora Thompson, Treyton Thompson and Tinslee Thomspon; and his great great grandchildren, Baylior Spivey, Everett Scott, Greylan Spivey and Hutton Williams.
