He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Irving and Bernice Bridges Eggers Irving; and his former wife Edith Buff Eggers. He is survived by: his wife Beatrice B. Little Eggers; his children, Christopher Eggers (Lori) of Hildebran, John Calvin Little (Diane) of Rutherford College, James Henry Little, Jr. (Susan) of Tryon and Loree Eggers Clodfelter of Hickory; his sister Mary Eggers Becklehimer of Texas; and his grandchildren, Caroline Hefner, Cameron Eggers, Caitlyn Allemang, John C. Little, Jr., Amy Christina Little, Sean Winstead Little, Seth Christian Little and Jake Ryan Little.
