He was predeceased by : his parents, John Edward Speaks, Sr. and Stella Mae Dillard Speaks; his daughter Denise Grubbs; and his granddaughter Jamie Faith Taylor. He is survived by : his wife Sheila Speaks; his children, Deborah Kaye Speaks (Eddie Payne) and John Alan Speaks (Carlene); his grandsons, David Allen Grubbs (Nicole), Matthew Adam Grubbs (Jessica), James Ryan Taylor (Whitney), Zachary Blair Speaks (Aaron Martin) and Noah Alan Speaks; his great grandchildren, Sara Grubbs, Kelsie Grubbs, Kimber Grubbs, Luke Taylor and Kate Taylor; his brother Don Speaks; his son-in-law David Grubbs; and his close friend Brian Brown (John). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care.
