With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Doris Virginia Smith Neal (Rural Hall, North Carolina), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 26, 2024 at the age of 87. Though Doris Virginia Smith may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Doris Virginia Smith touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Calvin Warren Smith and Margaret Burton Smith; her former husband Will Roger Vernon, Sr.; her husband Bob Neal; and her sons, Will Roger Vernon, Jr. and Jeffery Warren Vernon.
She is survived by: her children, Teresa Vernon, Michael Vernon (Kristi), Brian Vernon (Kathy) and David (Vernon). She is also survived by nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 2nd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Rural Hall Chapel - Hayworth-Miller Funeral Homes & Crematory (305 Bethania-Rural Hall Rd, Rural Hall, NC 27045). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 2nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
