He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Puryear and Annie Puryear; his wife Clara Lowery Puryear; and his son Byron Puryear. He is survived by: his daughter Delores Honeycutt (Donald); his grandchildren, Kelly Murray (Greg), Derek Honeycutt (Becca) and Ian Puryear; his great grandchildren, Collin Shotwell, Emma Honeycutt and Olivia Honeycutt; and his daughter-in-law Melanie Puryear.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the High View Baptist Church (144 High View Church Rd, Roxboro, NC 27574).
