He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Rodney Burton Hazel and Sarah Josephine Hazel (Ash); his wife Shirley Martin Hazel; and his siblings, Katherine Craig of Milford, DE, Ruth Edgens of Lewes, DE, Marcela Horner of Roxboro, NC, George Rodney Hazel of Roxboro, NC and Ralph Hazel of Washington, PA.
He is survived by: his sons, Jay Hazel (Kim) of Roxboro and Rodney Hazel (Lisa) of Greensboro; his grandchildren, Caroline, Kenley Hazel of Roxboro, Kirby Hazel Jethro (Bennett) of Durham, Spencer Hazel of Greensboro, Morgan and Parker Hazel of Charlotte; and his sister Betty Ann Connor of Milton, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Clement Baptist Church, 8480 Burlington Road, Hurdle Mills, NC 27541.
