He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Edward and Velma Mildred Puryear (Gentry); and his sister Janice Marie Puryear. He is survived by: his wife Sheryl "Bee" Puryear; his children, Terry Lynn Puryear, Rennis Edwin Puryear, Jr. (Susan) and Wendy Puryear Livingston; his grandchildren, Shane (Christie), Stephanie and Tabitha (Christian); and his siblings, Peggy Mooney (Sam), Philip Puryear (Lynda), Tommy Puryear (Wanda), Tammy Puryear (Larry) and Jacky Puryear (Kendra). He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Rennis's honor to the Triple Springs Volunteer Fire Department, 185 Olive Branch Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.
