He was predeceased by: his parents, Gabe Barnette and Susie Ann Stewart Barnette; his wife Neely Barnette; his adoptive son Preston Lumpton; and his siblings, James Barnette, Clarence Barnette, Mary Burton, Willie Barnette, Dorothy Clay, Gabriel Barnette, Bessie Burton, Josephine Benson, Ernestine Williams, Franklin Barnette and Chester Barnette.
He is survived by: his brothers, Walter Barnette (Evelyn) of Roxboro, George Barnette of Roxboro and Herschel Edwards of East Orange. He is also survived by other loving relatives and friends.
