She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Paul Edward Herndon and Lillian Barton Herndon; her husband Dennis Ray Bowen; her daughter Melissa Veasey Macgregor of Durham; her siblings, Diane H. Adcock of Roxboro, Rebecca Kay Herndon of Durham, Pamela Lee Herndon of Durham, Regina Paige Herndon of Timberlake and Mark Edward Herndon of Bahama; and her grandchildren, MaKayla Faith Gooch and Logan Ryse Macgregor.
