He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Pruitt and Mary Lorena Groff; and his siblings, Willard Pruitt, Thelma Collins, Isabel Bonner (Mickey), Lillian Lloyd and Jody Pruitt.

He is survived by: his wife Rebecca Huff Pruitt (Becky) of Longhurst; his daughters, Annette Slaughter (Mitchell), Karla Peed (Ted) and Lisa Wesley (Mike); his granddaughters, Anna Wesley and Brooke Peed; and his siblings, Lindola Baity, Barbara Tuggle (Tommy), Lois Pleasant (Barry), Sandy Saxena and Margie Oakley (Dennis).

“To Lisa, Annette, Carla and family; When I came back to Person High School for my “second career” in the Person County Schools, your Dad was so helpful and welcoming to me when he was the jail administrator. Any time i wanted to see one of our students, present or former, who was locked up with him, Captain Pruitt would always go out of his way to accommodate me. I hope knowing that the three of you did all you could while he was alive will somewhat ease the pain of his loss. Jim Warburg”
