He is survived by: his close friend Marie Chavis of Rowland; his children, James W. Chavis (Susie) of Fayetteville, Ricky Chavis of Alabama, Douglas Chavis (Nancy) of Lumber Bridge, Sandra Hunt (Charles) of Fairmont, Betty Jane Clark of Fairmont, Melinda Chavis of Rowland, Judy Hunt (Timmy) of Fairmont and Debbie Lewis (Ralph) of Fairmont; and his siblings, Mae Holmes of Dillon and James Chavis (Letha Mae) of Fairmont. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
