He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Porterfield and Eva Laws Porterfield; his wife Faye Dunn Porterfield; and his siblings, Eugene "Gene" Porterfield, Roosevelt Lee "Buddy" Porterfield and Patricia P. Blalock.
He is survived by: his children, Carolyn Porterfield Copeland (Ricky) of Rougemont and Matthew Vance Porterfield (Sarah) of Rougemont; his grandchildren, Kristen Boyette (Adam), Braxton Copeland (Morgan), Jordan Copeland (Jennifer), Bryce Porterfield, Bret Porterfield and Brantly Porterfield; and his great grandchildren, Kadden Boyette, Karter Boyette, Kinsley Boyette, Karsen Boyette, Keira Morrison, Ocean Porterfield, Moonlight Porterfield and Ellie Copeland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
