He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Stokes Jones, Sr. and Ella Mae Turner Jones; his wife Rosa Mae Sessoms Jones; his son-in-law Richard E. McGhee; his siblings, Rachel Jones Wadell, Elmer Stokes Jones, Jr, Merle Jones, Leon Jones, Pelton Jones and Paul Jones; and his great grandchild Cameron Poole.
He is survived by: his sister Ellen Jones Smith; his daughters, Gloria Jones McGhee, Sylvia Jones Poole (Bobby) and Evelyn Jones Kandzer (Paul); his grandchildren, Missi Bartholomew (Craig), Robyn McGhee Langston (Ryan), Robie Poole (Stacie) and Brad Kandzer (Maritza); his great grandchildren, Brandon Bartholomew (Madison), Philip Bartholomew, Kyle Bartholomew, Alyssa Bartholomew, Rachael Martin, Zachary Martin, Shayla Poole and Sydney Poole; and his great great grandchildren, Rylan Bartholomew and Chloie Boza.
