He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Holt Mangum and Mary Bowen Mangum; and his siblings, Marvin Mangum, Annie Mae Adcock, Mabel Gentry Latta, Sarella Mangum and Willie Bowling.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy Bowling Mangum; his children, Mark Mangum (Deanna) of Rougemont, NC and Pamela Rhew (Al) of Timberlake, NC; his grandchildren, Allie Rhew Stevens (Joel), Brandi Mangum, Lindsay Rhew, Stephanie Mangum, Mary Mangum and Benjamin Mangum; and his great grandchildren, Colt Stevens and Lane Stevens.
