With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Lillie Mae Smith Ray of Rougemont, North Carolina, born in Franklin, North Carolina, who passed away on May 28, 2024 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, David Lee Smith and Maude Edwards Smith; her sons, David Wayne Ray and Michael Anthony Ray; her siblings, Linwood Smith, Betsy Wester Hall and Margaret Patterson (Sis); and her son-in-law Ronald Ray Brooks, Sr. (Ray).

She is survived by: her children, Donna Ray Sommer (Mark) of Stem, Kimberly Ray Price of Nebo, Wanda Ray Brooks of Rougemont and Richard Lee Ray (Linda) of Butner; and her brothers, David Smith (Barbara) of Fayetteville and Earl Smith (Judy) of Kinston. She is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
